Yesterday, I was walking on the 'ol isle of Manhattan when I passed an apparently homeless woman begging for change. As I wound up my right leg to kick her cartoon-style, like I do with them bums, she said something that made me stop in my Roadrunner'esque place. She said, verbatim, "Can someone please help me out with some change? I just ran out of my house this morning without my wallet."
... WHAT?!? Now I'm supposed to bail out the absent-minded? Go home and get your wallet! Because you 1) have a home and 2) have a wallet, two of the criteria I consider most important when deciding whether I am going donate my hard-earned karaoke money to the poor.
People these days, am I right!
